Title of Study: Transforming Library Services for Transgender Patrons
Investigator: Spencer Keralis, Research Associate Professor, University of North Texas (UNT) Libraries.
Purpose of the Study: You are being asked to participate in a research study to assess transgender library patrons’ information seeking needs, and their expectations of libraries.
Study Procedures: You will be asked to answer a few multiple-choice and short-answer questions, which will take about 10-15 minutes of your time.
Foreseeable Risks: There are no foreseeable risks involved in this study.
Benefits to the Subjects or Others: This study is not expected to be of any direct benefit to you, but we hope to learn more about the needs of transgender patrons and librarians’ awareness of those needs. Your survey responses may be used to develop research-based web and print resources for public service librarians in school, public, and university libraries. These resources may enable school, public and university librarians to provide better patron services to transgender persons. Results of this survey may also inform white papers or other research outputs.
Compensation for Participants: None.
Procedures for Maintaining Confidentiality of Research Records: No personal information will be recorded. If you wish to elaborate on your responses, you may email Spencer.Keralis@unt.edu. Responses will be anonymized when the data is collated.
